FAQ

Straight answers to fair questions.

The measurement

How do you measure my roof?

From aerial imagery and machine-traced building outlines. That gives the roof area and a conservative share of it for panels. Sun data for your exact location gives the energy a year.

Why no system price?

A fair price for a commercial system depends on the roof structure, your load through the day and the metering. Those are checked on the site assessment, so the price comes in the written proposal, not from an aerial photo.

Where does the tariff come from?

The prefill is from the ERB-approved ZESCO schedule. Your actual rate depends on your tariff band and maximum-demand charges, so change it to match your bill.

It found the wrong building.

On a shared plot the pin can land on a neighbour or a shed. Try the business name, or the street address with the plot number. If it still misses, send us a message.

Paying for it

What is pay per unit?

The installer owns the system on your roof and you buy the power it makes at a rate below your grid tariff, with nothing upfront. It is often called a PPA.

Can I buy the system instead?

Yes. The proposal prices both ways, so you can compare.

Does this work for homes?

Yes. Pick “home” at the first question and the estimate adjusts. Household tariffs in Zambia are lower, so the value per unit is smaller than for a business.

Who does what

Is SolarCheck an installer?

No. SolarCheck measures and prepares the estimate. Our installation partner in Zambia does the site assessment, the proposal and the install.

Where is my data kept?

On secure servers outside Zambia, as the consent form says. Under the Data Protection Act 2021 you can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time.

Do you sell my details?

No. They go to one installation partner, only if you ask for an assessment.
